About ServiceTogether.org

The Knights of Columbus is proud to present ServiceTogether.org, an initiative intended to bring service organizations from the private sector, nonprofit and government arenas together in a cooperative effort to promote volunteerism. This project is designed to facilitate service in our communities by bringing potential volunteers into contact with the many opportunities available through our network of partner organizations.

On February 27, 2009, over 110 different organizations came together for the “Neighbors Helping Neighbors” Summit. The Summit facilitated discussion on ways to respond to the need created by the economic crisis through redoubled volunteerism and intergroup cooperation.

The Summit was only a first step. ServiceTogether.org is a way for organizations and individuals to find strength in one another, unified by a common purpose; a renewed effort to serve our neighbors.

We encourage groups and individuals to make use of this site’s capabilities. This site features links to a diverse range of volunteer agencies and nonprofit organizations, which we hope will raise awareness of the many initiatives now underway in our country devoted to community service.

Share your input and be our active partners, for most importantly, ServiceTogether.org is about remaining united in the mission of service and volunteerism. It is through working together that our groups and volunteers become more than the sum of their parts.

ServiceTogether.org offers resources for volunteers and lessons learned from the “Neighbors Helping Neighbors” Summit. It features transcripts, panel summaries, and video in order to put to full advantage the best practices produced by summit attendees and panelists.

Each month, ServiceTogether.org will feature a new volunteer in the “Volunteer Spotlight,” to shine a light on some of the noteworthy service performed by ordinary individuals helping their neighbors.

We invite you to contribute nominations for our “Volunteer Spotlight” as well as stories about your own volunteerism initiatives to be featured on ServiceTogether.org.

As Americans we should recall that what has and continues to make this country great is our commitment to our neighbor.
